Help us create a digital platform to promote disability awareness and inclusion for all in our elementary and middle schools!
This project will give our school partners an opportunity to educate and engage students in being an ALLY for inclusion!
The Ability Institute promotes global inclusion by providing educational opportunities to transform attitudes and develop allies for people with disabilities. We do this through our educational programs for K-8 schools, institutes of higher education, and business/industry. Promoting inclusion for others is a cornerstone of the Jesuit mission and the School of Education at SLU.
Due to COVID-19, we are not able to physically bring our K-8th grade curriculum about disability awareness into the classroom. Gifts to this project will support an "online exhibit" format for classroom teachers. Creating an online presence requires hiring a media specialist who can create a digital video of the messages we are trying to teach. Our faculty will be responsible for adhering to Department of Education curriculum goals, but electronic media production is not in our wheelhouse. We will also need funds to help supplement classroom with activities and toys related to disability awareness.
