Our mission is to provide a sustainable on-campus resource to help alleviate food insecurity among SLU students, and by doing so, we are contributing to SLU's mission of serving humanity. We believe our goal of $5,000 is a sufficient amount to keep the food pantry running and stocked for the year. This money will be used to help stock the pantry with food and non-food items, as well as marketing the pantry to students on SLU's campus.

Studies have estimated that, across the country, 20% of all undergraduate students attending 4-year institutions are food insecure.​ At SLU, it is estimated that 5-10% of undergraduate students may be at risk of food insecurity this school year. That is roughly 400-800 students.
